Oyo State Governor, Engineer Seyi Makinde has stressed his administration’s determination to make huge investment in the youth.
Governor Makinde, in a message through Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Youths and Sports, Mr Oludele Oyadeyi to the swearing in of 2019 Batch B corps members posted to the state, gave assurance that his administration would ensure a conducive and secured environment all through the service year.
Engineer Makinde also charged the youths to be law abiding assuring them that their welfare was of great priority to the government.
“The
orientation course, which you are about to commence will prepare you for the
task and challenges of the service year.
I,
therefore urge you to avail yourself this opportunity by participating in all
camp activities and obey all rules and regulations that have been put in place
to ensure a hitch free Orientation exercise.
I
further enjoin you to be patriotic and selfless in all your activities starting
here in camp to your Places of Primary Assignment.
It
is on record that the activities of your predecessors have positive impacted
the lives of their host communities in various sectors by providing good rural
health care, qualitative education, enlightenment and sensitization on some vital
national issues to the nature and Oyo state in particular.
Our
nation Nigeria depends on your services and it is a great responsibility that
you all must bear. You must uphold the ideals of the Scheme in the discharge of
your assignments.”
NYSC
coordinator in Oyo State, Mrs Eniola Ambekemo hinted that the orientation
course, which was the first phase of the national service was to instill
leadership qualities, integrity and discipline in corps members .
“The
Service Year which comprises of four cardial programmes is witnessing today the
first entrance to the national service,the orientation course, which will be
declared open by His Excellency.
It
is a programme aimed at instilling in our Prospective Corps Members, leadership
qualities, integrity and discipline.
It will interest you to know that the three – week Orientation course though regimented is packaged with exciting programmes and activities such as Lectures, Dance, Drama, Sports amongst others.
Similarly, you are expected to interact amicably amongst yourselves irrespective of your cultural differences ” Ambekemo said
Mrs Ambekemo, while imploring the youth corps members to embrace skill acquisition entrepreneurship program of the scheme to be self-reliant in the future, charged them to appreciate culture of the host community.
One thousand five hundred and ninety five corps members participated in the orientation course.
