Ahead of this year’s annual new yam festival of Owu, sons and daughters of Owu kingdom have been urged to embrace their cultural heritage to enhance socio economic growth of Ogun State.

A member of the 2019 Owu Day Planning Committee,  Mr Waheed  Ijaduade made the plea when he paid a courtesy visit to the General Manager of Radio Nigeria Paramount FM Abeokuta, Alhaji Adeniyi Odekunle in his office. 

Mr Ijaduade said there was an urgent need for indigenes both at home and in Diaspora to promote and preserve their culture for the overall development of the state.

The movie producer solicited the support of Radio Nigeria Paramount FM in the effort to enlighten residents about their tradition and called on youths to use the period of the festival as an opportunity to learn about their background.

Responding, the station’s general manager, Alhaji Adeniyi Odekunle gave the assurance that the station would collaborate with the organizers of the 2019 Owu Day festival to sensitize the people with the necessary information that would enhance their cultural values.
