Nigeria security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC Oyo state command has inaugurated agro ranger squad in tackling security challenges.

The squad was launched today at NSCDC headquarters, Ibadan by the state commandant, Alhaji Iskilu Akinsanya.

While introducing the squad, Alhaji Akinsanya said the aim of the federal government for introducing the unit was to forestall attacks on farms and boost farmer’s confidence to work without fear.

Alhaji Akinsanya said this would also reduce the rising cases of cattle rustling, armed banditry and kidnapping that usually occur in the bush or farm areas.

The agro ranger squad members who were trained by the Nigerian army at NSCDC college of conflict and disaster management in Katsina state for three months would also serve as enlightenment officers to the people in agro communities.
