A 32 year old man, Adebayo Emmanuel has been accused of allegedly using fake bank alert to purchase some items at two different locations in Osogbo, the Osun State capital.

Adebayo Emmanuel was dragged before an Osogbo magistrate court by the police where the allegation was made.

According to the charge sheet read in court, the accused purchased a telephone handset valued at 85,000 naira at a shop in Olaiya area of Osogbo and made payment through a fake bank transfer.

In the second case, the suspect was also alleged to have purchased a textile material worth 30,000 naira with fake bank alert at another location in Dada Estate area of the state capital.

The Police prosecutor, Sergeant Adeoye Kayode told the court that the since he committed the offences in June this year, the accused escaped to Ilorin in Kwara state, where he was eventually arrested after days of search.

In his plea, the accused, Adebayo Emmanuel pleaded not guilty to all the charges, on which basis his counsel, Mr Okobe Najite prayed the court to grant him bail in liberal terms.

However, the police prosecutor opposed the bail application on the ground that it took so long to apprehend the suspect, adding that his credibility to attend trial was in doubt.

After listening to the parties, the Magistrate, Mrs Risikat Olayemi granted the accused bail in the sum of 50,000 naira and two sureties in like sum.

Mrs Olayemi adjourned the matter to 23rd of this month for hearing.
