Oyo State Government will tomorrow, Friday, commence the nation’s Independence Day celebration in with a special Jumat Service at Central Mosque, Oja Oba, Ibadan.

According to a statement by the State Commissioner for Youth and Sports, Mr. Seun Fakorede, the Deputy Governor, Engineer Rauf Olaniyan will lead top civil servants and government functionaries to the Mosque.

The statement notes that the Secretary to the State Government,  Mrs Olubamiwo Adeoshun will on Sunday, lead top government functionaries to St. Peter’s Anglican Cathedral, Aremo for a thanksgiving service slated for ten o clock in the morning. 

Activities to end the 59th Independence Day celebration will be held on Tuesday, October 1, with match past for primary and secondary schools at Lekan Salami Stadium, Adamasingba, Ibadan.

Also, voluntary organizations, military, para military agencies and various unions are expected to participate in the march past, while cycling display, cultural display will add colour to the programme. 

Oyo State Government had last Wednesday held a quiz competition involving Essay Writing and Debate among schools in the state.
