Federal government has been advised to urgently pass into law the bill of Good Samaritan as this would encourage people to render assistance to accident victims without any fear of unlawful detention.

Participants at a National Rescue Summit organized by a non-governmental organization, Road Accident Information and Rescue Operation made the appeal in Ibadan.

Director, National Orientation Agency, NOA, Mrs. Dolapo Dosumu was of the opinion that passage of the bill will reduce cases of deaths on highway.

Sector Corps Commander, Federal Road Safety Corps, FRSC, Oyo State, Mrs. Uche Chukwura urged Nigerians while rendering first aid treatment to victims of accident to call FRSC on 122 for immediate assistance.

On his part, Zonal Coordinator of National Emergency Management Agency, NEMA, in Oyo state, Mr. Slaku Luggard advised Nigerians to desist from taking pictures rather than rendering the needed assistance to accident victims.

The Chief organiser of the event who is the national commander of Road Accident Information and Rescue Organisation, Mr. Bamigboye Okanlawon , said the program was borne out of the need to genuinely assist victims of road accident.
