The National Board for Technical Education, NBTE, is supporting Moshood Abiola Polytechnic, MAPOLY, Abeokuta to sustain the efforts at producing highly skilled manpower required to strengthen the country’s technology base. 

The Chairman, Governing Board of the NBTE, Professor Modupe Adelabu made the submission during a working visit to the Ojere, Abeokuta campus of the Polytechnic. 

Professor Adelabu, who described Polytechnic education as the future of Nigeria, noted that the Federal Government was collaborating with the World Bank and other development partners to finance vocational and technical education. 

While applauding MAPOLY for having more than seventy doctorate degree holders on its payroll, Professor Adelabu counselled the personnel to aspire for greater professional and personal development.

In a remark, Rector of the Polytechnic, Dr. Samson Odedina, who explained that the institution did not lose accreditation for any of its programmes despite the challenges faced in the last two years, urged the NBTE to approve the necessary revalidation of the programmes. 

Dr Odedina commended the government for supporting the institution and sought the cooperation of all stakeholders for improved performance. 


The NBTE official visit to MAPOLY also featured meetings with stakeholders including labour unions, led by the executive members of ASUP, NASU and SSANIP, as well as representatives of the Students Union Government. 

According to the Head, Public Relations and Protocols of the Polytechnic, Mr Yemi Ajibola, the Chairman Governing Board of the NBTE also met with the Special Adviser to Ogun State Governor on Tertiary Education, Professor Sidi Osho alongside the Director, Primary and Tertiary Education, Dr. Waheed Olanloye, MAPOLY  Registrar, Mr. Emmanuel ADELEYE and the Director of Academic Planning, Dr. Adeoye Odedeji.
