Federal College of Education, Abeokuta has inaugurated six capital projects constructed through the Tertiary Education Trust Fund TETFUND.

The Minister of Education, Mallam Adamu Adamu while inaugurating the projects as part of the Twenty Fourth Convocation ceremony in Abeokuta said education has continued to receive appreciable budgetary allocation from Federal Government to respond to the demand for improved funding for the sector.

The projects inaugurated include Primary Education Complex, College Gallery for immortalising eminent personalities and the College Conference Hall.

Other are the Water Treatment Plant for purification and treatment of portable water for the college, the Theater Arts Complex and the Chief Olusegun Obasanjo Vocational Education Building.

The Minister of Education, represented by the Executive Secretary, National Commission for Colleges of Education, Professor Bappa-Aliyu Muhammadu after the inauguration of the projects, stressed the importance of good maintenance culture to enable the projects serve the students and the staff.

The minister stated that Federal Government was committed to ensuring that institutions of learning attain and sustain academic excellence at all times.

Mallam Adamu called on the graduands to see themselves as young entrepreneurs capable of being self-employed and employers of labour as government caould no longer shoulder the responsibility of being the sole provider of employment.

Former President Olusegun Obasanjo, represented by his  wife, Bola, on the occasion, called on the graduands and the staff of the Federal College of Education, Osiele Abeokuta to continue to be the leading light in the provision of quality manpower required to develop the education sector.

Provost of the college, Dr. Ayodeji Ajayi in his address stated that Federal Government had been supporting the infrastructure development of the college with funds from TETUND and promised that the institution management would continue to prudently manage the funds made available for the development of the college.

Eight thousand seven hundred and seventy seven students graduated from five schools at the Twenty Fourth Convocation of the college.
