In Ekiti State, Three hundred unemployed people are currently undergoing skill acquisition programme organized by the Defence and Police Officers Wives Association, DEPOWA.

At the inauguration of the empowerment programme in Ode- Ekiti, president of the association, Mrs. Omobolanle Olonisakin said the aim of the initiative was to provide succor to the less privileged and cushion the effect of harsh economic situation of the country on the people.

She noted that skill acquisition had become the order of the day since white collar job are relatively scarce.

Mrs. Olonisakin urged the participants to take the training seriously so as to make them employers of labour rather than job seekers.

The participants would acquire skills in bead stringing, bag making, barbing, grinding machine operation, tie and dye among others.

The training is scheduled to last for two years.
