The Osun State House of Assembly has confirmed the 35 nominees sent to the House by the state governor, Gboyega Oyetola, for the positions of Commissioners and Special Advisers.

This is sequel to the motion moved by the Majority Leader, Mr. Maruf Olanrewaju and seconded by member representing Osogbo State Constituency, Mr. Taofeek Badmus.

The Speaker, Mr. Timothy Owoeye, while speaking on the approval and confirmation of the nominees during plenary session said the amended Nigerian 1999 Constitution, Section 192 to 196 empowers the House to approve and confirm the commissioners and SAs nominees.

Mr. Owoeye commended his colleagues for the role they played during the screening exercise, saying the nominees during their screening, had shown desire to work with the governor.

He said the nominees were made up of qualified persons and that he believes the governor’s cabinet would work to develop and move the state forward.

Other lawmakers, in their individual submissions, also corroborated what the Speaker said, adding that none of the nominees fell below satisfaction.

The Speaker, after the approval and confirmation, said the governor could go ahead to swear-in the nominees.

He advise the nominees to join hands with the governor to move the state forward, also advising the governor to put the right persons in the right positions
