Some women and youth groups in Oyo state have staged a solidarity match in support of Oyo State Governor, Engineer Seyi Makinde following the ruling of the court of appeal in Ibadan.
The supporters in their large number were seen chanting solidarity songs such as “No to Imposition Makinde”,”We are solidly behind you” while some of them carried placards with various inscriptions in support of the governor.
Speaking on behalf of the supporters, Mr. Kehinde Oladapo said the match was to express support for governor Makinde due to the rumour that the judgment of appeal court was not in his favour.
Addressing the supporters, Governor Makinde thanked the various women and youth groups saying the mandate given to him in the March 9 governorship election remained intact.
Governor Makinde noted that there was nothing in the ruling of appeal court that tampered with his mandate.
The governor however enjoined citizens of the state to remain calm as there was no cause for alarm.
