Gun Men Attack Commissioner, Kill Driver in Oyo

The Oyo State Commissioner for Lands and Housing, Mr. Abdul-Raheem Abiodun’s car has been reportedly attacked by unknown gunmen last night which led to a police officer sustaining gunshot injuries and the killing of the Commissioner’s driver.

Informed sources indicated that the police orderly attached to the commissioner sustained gunshot injury and presently receiving treatment at the accident and emergency unit at the University College Hospital, UCH, Ibadan.

In a chat with the Commissioner, Mr. Abdul-Raheem explained that the unfortunate incident occurred around 8 O’clock in the evening yesterday, 20th of November, 2019 shortly after the deceased had dropped him at his resident.

The commissioner said that the motive behind the attack could not be ascertained as the armed men, after the attack, took away the gun belonging to the police officer attached to him, thinking that he was in the car as at the time they attacked his aides. 

He said he had reported the incident to the state commissioner of police. 

Meanwhile, the Oyo State House of Assembly committee on security has summoned an emergency meeting as a matter of urgent public importance.
