Commissioner of Police in Oyo State, Mr Shina Olukolu has confirmed the attack on the Commissioner for Lands and Housing, Mr Abdulraheem Abiodun by unknown gunmen.
He said the gunmen attacked the commissioner’s car, which led to the death of his driver while his orderly, who sustained gunshot wound have been hospitalised.
Mr Olukolu said the command had begun investigations on the matter and gave an assurance that the suspected killers would soon be arrested.
Reacting, Commissioner for Lands and Housing, Mr Abdul Raheem Abiodun said the incident was an unfortunate one, as the gunmen thought he was in the car.
Mr Abiodun said the motive behind the attack could not be ascertained, as the armed men took away the gun belonging to the police officer attached to him.
Meanwhile, the Oyo State house of Assembly Committee on Security has been summoned to an emergency meeting as a matter of urgent public importance.
