Staff of Oyo State Fire Service and that of Akesan Customary Court this morning stayed away from their offices due to the fire incident which occurred yesterday in the area.

Radio Nigeria correspondent monitoring the situation reports that the court was completely razed down while the fire station including fire-fighting trucks were vandalized.

A building called Radio House, said to be owned by defunct Nigeria Broadcasting Corporation, was however spared by the inferno.

As at the time of filing this report, fire was still gutting a section of the market, which continued to draw crowds of sympathisers including the Alaafin of Oyo, who paid a visit yesterday.
