The wives of fallen heroes of the nation’s Armed Forces has appealed for better welfare condition to enable them cater for their families and their children’s educational needs.

The Secretary Army Women Widows, Delta State Chapter Philomena Erhiahwe, made this known at the Grand Finale of the 2020 Armed Forces Remembrance Day Celebration in Asaba, the Delta State Capital.

Mrs. Erhiahwe noted the windows were experiencing challenges, while urging the chieftains of the Armed Forces and well-meaning individuals to take action to alleviate their suffering.

Also the Delta State Chairman of the Nigerian Legion retired Colonel Boniface Ojei, decried the poor welfare condition of members of the Nigerian Legion despite their sacrifices to defend the nation whilst in active service.

The event was which was attended by Service Chiefs in the state, Traditional Rulers and the Clergy, witnessed a match-past by a contingent comprising the Army, Navy Airforce and the Nigerian Legion.

The climax of the Armed Forces Remembrance Day was the laying of wreath at the foot of the unknown soldier by Delta State Governor Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa, represented by the State Deputy Governor  Kingsley Otuaro.
