Federal Government is taking steps to embark on mechanized agriculture as part of efforts to boost food security across the country.

Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Alhaji Sabo Nanono made this known when he paid a courtesy visit to Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun.

Alhaji Nanono, who pointed out that the programme would take place in six hundred and thirty two Local Government Areas in the country, said that Ogun would be one of the pilot states in the Southwest region.

The Minister also announced the plan of the Federal Government to train fifty thousand Extension workers across the country, and said the Federal Government was committed to revolutionize Agricultural sector in the country.

Responding, Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, who maintained that his administration placed a high premium on Agriculture sector as part of efforts to create jobs and make the state the food basket of the nation, described the Agricultural Programme as a welcome development.
