It was jubilation galore at the Nigeria Correctional Service, Ado Ekiti Custodial Centre as forty four inmates awaiting trial including a female regained freedom.

The inmates were pardoned and released during the visit of the Chief Judge of Ekiti State, Justice Ayodeji Daramola to the correctional centre as part of measures to decongest the facility.

The beneficiaries, who could not hide their joy, danced in excitement while others rolled on the floor to appreciate God for the rare privilege.

Addressing those that enjoyed the prerogative of mercy, justice Ayodeji Daramola advised them to be law abiding and not to be involved in any act that could bring them to the correctional centre

In an interview, the comptroller of the correctional centre, Mr Olufemi Akinyemi noted that the exercise would decongest the service and give room for its optimal performance.

Speaking with our correspondent, some of the inmates that were released promised to be law abiding citizen and flee from criminal activities.
