The Speakers of the State House of Assemblies in the region have resolved that all the State House of Assemblies should commence action on the process of passage of the Amotekun Bill’ into law.

This was sequel to the receipt of ‘Amotekun Bill’ by the State House of Assemblies in the South West region.

The Speakers arrived at this resolution at a conference held in Ibadan.

The conference also in this regard mandated that all the State House of Assemblies should simultaneously hold public hearings on the bill in their respective states on Monday, 24th of February, 2020.

In a statement issued in Ibadan signed by the Chairman, Conference of Speakers of South West Legislatures, Mr. David Oleyelogun after an emergency meeting, urges the people to attend and make meaningful contributions to the bill that regulates protection of lives and property in our states.

The statement adds that thereafter the conference of Speakers are expected to reconvene to meet with the States Attorney-Generals to address all conflicting areas and to review the contents of the reports generated at the public hearings for harmonization into the proposed law.
