Joint Action Committee, JAC comprising members of the Non-Academic Staff Union, NASU and Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities, SSANU, University of Ibadan chapters have vowed to continue their strike until their demands are met.

The two unions were demanding April to December salary increment, incorporation of Staff School teachers into the university workforce, pension deduction, and payment of earned allowance, among others.

In an interview, the National Vice President, SSANU, Southwest Zone, Mr .Alfred Jimoh and NASU Secretary, U.I chapter, Mr. Abiodun Omisore said other universities in Nigeria had mainstreamed Staff School workers based on the 2016 court injunction, saying the University of Ibadan had refused to adhere to the injunction.

The two union leaders said the University management had earlier convened a meeting over the weekend where two of their demands were partly met.

Radio Nigeria correspondent who monitored the situation reports that the main gate was under lock with an effigy placed on the main road.

The development had not only led to traffic jams along major roads around U.I but also subjected some of the students and staff to trek long distances.
