Covid-19: Ogun Govt. Commences Listing of Infected Italian Contacts

Ogun State Government has commenced line listing and the search for contacts of the Italian diagnosed for Coronavirus disease, (COVID_19).

The state’s Commissioner for Health, Dr Tomi Coker while addressing journalists in Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital, who assured that all the contacts would be properly listed, said the patient was in Ewekoro on Tuesday morning before the illness started by the evening of Wednesday.

The Italian patient according to Dr Coker is a consultant to one of the leading cement factory in Ewekoro, Ogun State.

Dr Tomi Coker, who disclosed that the victim developed fever twenty-four hours after arriving Ewekoro and was treated at the facility clinic located within the factory, explained that the Italian was rushed to Lagos on Wednesday when the case grew worse before it was confirmed that he had Coronavirus.

The Commissioner hinted that the victim had made three contacts in Lagos before his arrival in Ogun, and stated that the line listing had commenced while other possible contacts were being searched to ensure the safety of the people.

Dr Coker who refused to quote a figure of the already listed contacts said it would be pre-matured to put the number to the contacts the patient made in Ogun since the case was just confirmed being confirmed.

He said the whole facility of the cement factory had been quarantined following the incident and advised the residents of the state to step up their personal respiratory hygiene.

The Commissioner for Health, who addressed the journalists alongside the Special Adviser to Ogun State Governor on Public Communication, Mr. Remmy Hazzan, the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Mr. Kunle Somorin and the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Health, said a team of epidemiologists had commenced work to give proper coordination to the management of possible outbreak in Ogun State.

Radio Nigeria correspondent, Wale Oluokun reports that the Commissioner for Health called on the citizens to improve on person respiratory hygiene at all times to prevent them from contacting the contagious disease.
