The Board and Management of the Nigeria Railway Corporation (NRC) has stopped all train operations due to the Coronavirus pandemic.

This directive which is to take effect from Monday, 23, 2020 involves all the train services including Abuja-Kaduna line.

Confirming this to Radio Nigeria, the NRC Deputy Director, Public Relations, Yakub Mahmood, noted that “All services including the Abuja-Kaduna rail line will be suspended come Monday”.

According to a statement by Mahmood on Saturday, “The Board and Management of the Nigeria Railway Corporation NRC have decided to stop all passenger trains’ operations as from Monday, 23, March 2020.

“This is in view of the report of the already known Corona Virus (COVID-19) outbreak.

“Further information on passenger train services will be made available in due cause to our esteemed passengers”, he said.

People resorted to using the train services following the insecurities on the Abuja-Kaduna expressway, and with this suspension, movement of people will be drastically limited.
