Police in Oyo state are to embark on routine visits and patrols in checking the level of compliance social distancing to curtail the spread of Coronavirus.

This is contained in a statement issued in Ibadan and signed by the Police Public Relations Officer in Oyo state, Mr Olugbenga Fadeyi for the Commissioner of Police.

The statement notes that there is need for people to adhere strictly to the order of social distancing as part of efforts of the government to curtail the spread of the virus.

It appeals to the public to act in accordance with the directives of the Government and security agencies on social distancing.

It notes that people should follow the directives on the closure of certain economic, religious, social and educational institutions without waiting for unnecessary use of force from security agencies.

It adds that people should, therefore, desist from spreading damaging rumours or fake news that might cause panic and disorder.
