As part of precautionary measures to prevent the spread of coronavirus in Oyo State, Governor Seyi Makinde had announced a dusk to dawn curfew,
the closure of all markets except those selling perishable food items as well as gathering that should not be more than ten.

Engineer Seyi Makinde also suspended inter-state transportation with the exception of the vehicles carrying food items, medical pharmaceutical and petroleum products.

Some residents of Ibadan, who reacted to the measured described it as a welcome development, noting that it was imperative to protect life, which is sacrosanct.

Other residents, who suggested total lock-down of the state and country, however, stressed the need for government to emulate developed nations by providing aids that would cushion the effects of the measures.

They appealed to other residents in the state to adhere to the safety measures initiated by the government.
