Four thousand six hundred less privileged in Ekiti State have benefited from the National Cash Transfer, a scheme under Social Investment Programme of President Muhammadu Buhari- led -administration.

The scheme was aimed at alleviating poverty, put a smile on peoples face and boost the economy of the downtrodden in the society especially during this lockdown to prevent the spread of COVID-19 pandemic.

Presenting the cash to beneficiaries in Ado-Ekiti, Governor Kayode Fayemi said that the number of beneficiaries would be increased to sixteen thousand before the end of this year.

Represented by the Director-General, Office of Transportation and Strategy Development, Professor Bolaji Aluko, Governor Fayemi said that APC government both at the National and state levels was poised to bring succour to citizens irrespective of religion and political affiliations.

Earlier, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Social Investment, Mr Victor Kolade had charged the beneficiaries to make good use of the money, saying that government’s plan on Cash Transfer was to make life meaningful for the people especially the Aged, Widows, Orphans and other less privileged in the society.

Some of the beneficiaries including Mrs, Abiodun Adisa, Mr. Michael Adewumi and Mrs Taibat Aderongbe appreciated the administrations of President Muhammadu Buhari and Governor Fayemi for the kind gesture. 

Other beneficiaries, who were receiving five thousand naira on a monthly basis, got their accumulated arrears of stipend which ran between twenty thousand and sixty thousand naira each.
