Overly one hundred less privileged residents of Ikire, Osun State have received food items as palliatives to cushion the effect of economic challenges due to Coronavirus pandemic.

The palliative, which was sponsored by a nongovernmental organization, Precious Love Foundation included rice, beans, onion, garri, palm and ground nut oil.

The residents, who converged on Ansa-Ru-Deen Secondary School Ikire could not hide their joy as they received their food packs.

One of them, a septuagenarian, Madam Dolapo Ige lauded Precious Love Foundation for remembering the needy at a critical time when the world was facing hard times.

Madam Ige, while calling on other well-meaning Nigerians to emulate Precious Love Foundation by reaching out to the needy during Covid -19 pandemic and beyond, urged other young people to use their energy for the advancement of the country, rather than engaging in anti-social behaviours.

The convener of the programme, Sandra Ilesanmi, daughter of Funmilayo Ilesanmi of Radio Nigeria Ibadan, said the motive of the NGO initially was to enable youths to channel their thoughts aright and help them to discover their talent.

Miss Ilesanmi, a final year student of Osun State University noted that prevailing economic hardship in the country made her consider reaching out to the poor through her widow’s might.

The convener, who said her effort was to complement that of the government, implored everyone to endeavor to make others smile.

Miss Ilesanmi pledged to always strive to impact the world positively.
