Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu has asked parents and guardians to keep their children and wards safe, saying all notices about school resumption remained untrue.

The Governor spoke in Akure during a briefing on the first COVID-19 death in the state.

He advised parents to rather maximize the educational broadcast classes in the interest of their children.

The Governor explained that the first COVID-19 fatality in the state was already diagnosed with renal case before contracting the coronavirus which complicated his health leading to renal failure.

He said that the victim, who died yesterday morning arrived in Ipe in Akoko South East Local Government Area of the state from Lagos State on April 27th despite the border lockdown.

The governor who disclosed that six cases had been treated and discharged with nine cases under care at the State Infections Disease Hospital emphasized on highest level of citizen’s responsibilities to contain the virus.
