Oyo State Governor, Engineer Seyi Makinde has flagged off the state Youths in Agro-business Project at the Rural Community Development Centre, Awe.

Inaugurating the project, Governor Makinde said his government would make funds available for easy access to youths and those interested in agricbusiness through revamping of the various agric cooperative societies in the state 

Governor Makinde  noted that the essence of the youths in agricbusiness project is to curb rural urban migration and ensure job creation pointing out that the facility at Awe would be equipped with necessary social amenities for the youths farmers. 

The governor also said that one billion naira has been awarded to the state medium to small scale enterprise facilities and would be flagged off soon.

Governor Makinde maintained that the application process would be made simple for eligible applicants.

Earlier, the Executive Adviser to the Governor on Agro-business, Dr Debo Akande explained that the Awe centre would possibly yield about 250 million naira annually and serve as a centre of excellence for incubation of agricultural initiatives

In their separate remarks, the Commissioner for Agriculture and Rural Development, Mr Jacob Ojemuyiwa and the Deputy Director General IITA, Kenton Dashiell expressed confidence that the project would contribute in creating value for investment.

Governor Makinde also Commissioned Model Primary Health Centre at Aafin Oyo.

The governor later paid homage to the Alaafia of Oyo, Oba Lamidi Adeyemi where the monarch lauded the Governor Makinde’s effort at transforming the health care system and promised to support the initiative 

The Governor had earlier made a stop-over to inspect a temporary isolation centre with over forty bed space in Awe, Oyo town.
