Religious Leader Arrested Over Incest in Ogun
A forty-four-year-old man, Pastor Oluwafemi Oyebola has been arrested by the police in Ogun State on the allegation of incessantly raping his 24-year-old daughter for about five years.
Apart from incest, the suspect was also accused of forcing the daughter to undergo abortion three times before securing a family planning method for her to prevent more pregnancies.
The victim recounted that the sexual exploitation was initiated by her father shortly after her mother’s death in 2015 until she ran away from home recently and was rescued by a Non-Governmental Organisation, the Advocacy for Children and Vulnerable Persons Network.
The State Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, Mr Abimbola Oyeyemi made this known in Abeokuta said the man was a pastor at a popular church at Owode, Yewa North Local Government Area of the state.
Mr Oyeyemi explained that the suspect who was apprehended by a team of detectives, led by the Divisional Police Officer, Owode-Egbado division, SP Olabisi Elebute, had confessed to the crimes.
He added that the man had been moved to the Anti-Human Trafficking and Child Labour Unit of the Ogun State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department, CID, for further investigation and prosecution as directed by the state Commissioner of Police, Mr Kenneth Ebrimson.
