Medical Doctors in the employ of the Lagos state government under the umbrella of the Medical Guild have begun a three-day warning strike over issues bothering on their safety and welfare.
However, Doctors working in COVID-19 isolation facilities are exempted from the action.
The Chairman of the Guild, Dr. Oluwajimi Sodipo who made this known, said the association had no choice than to embark on the warning strike as the two weeks ultimatum given to the state government elapsed on Sunday.
He listed some of the unresolved demands of the association to include wage disparity between doctors in the employ of the Federal Government and their Lagos state counterparts, issue of COVID-19 hazard allowances amongst others.
Dr. Sodipo also stated that members are being infected and re-infected daily while issue of shortage of doctors in the health facilities are yet to be resolved by the state government.
According to the chairman, a congress would be reconvened after the three-day warning strike to access the effect and plan the next line of action.
Similarly, the Secretary of the Guild, Dr Ismail Ajibowo said the association had done everything possible to ensure that the government do the needful but nothing has been achieved so far.
