Local Government election has been held in Ondo State amidst reports of violence and low turnout.

The election took place peacefully with impressive turnout in some communities in Owo, Ose, Akure South and Okitipupa.

There was however shortage of voting materials at Akure North, Ile Oluji, Oke Igbo, leading to protests and ballot snatching at Igbara Oke.

In Ese Odo council areas and Irele, voting was peaceful without restriction of movement as business activities went on.

The situation was different at Ilaje Local Government where there was no voting exercise.

Electoral officers, who gathered in a location in Igbokoda the headquarters of the council were without election materials.

In a remark, Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu commended the conduct of the election but acknowledged some lapses which he said the state Electoral commission must addressed.
