Oyo State Governor, Engineer Seyi Makinde says the state apparatus would not be deployed to disenfranchise voters from participating in the forthcoming local government elections in the state. 

He stated this during the inauguration of newly appointed members of the Oyo State Independent Electoral Commission (OYSIEC)

Governor Makinde maintained that the mandate of the commission was to conduct an all-inclusive, fair and credible local government elections in the thirty-three local government areas recognized by the country’s constitution. 

He urged those heating up the politics ahead of 2023 elections to be patient and focus on the present situation.

Speaking on behalf of the commission, OYSIEC Chairman, Mr Isiaka Olagunju promised that the commission would deliver in its mandate accordingly.

The newly inaugurated board of Oyo State Independent Electoral Commission (OYSIEC) comprises eight members.

The Board led by Mr. Isiaka Olagunju as Chairman, has other members, who are Comrade Adeniyi Afeeze Babatunde, Alhaja Ganiyat Salad,  Mr.  Emmanuel Olanrewaju, Chief Kimmi Agboola, Mr. Aderemi Ayoade, Mr.  Sunday Falana and Mr.  Adeojo Elias.

At the inauguration, Governor Makinde urged the board to conduct inclusive and credible Local Government Elections in Oyo State within the shortest possible time.
