The newly appointed Commissioner for Information and Values Orientation in Ekiti State, Mr Akin Omole says the government will continue to support broadcast outfits in the state towards promoting proper information, dissemination and improving the knowledge base of the people.

Mr Omole gave the assurance in Ado Ekiti while receiving general-managers of Radio and Television stations in the state.

The commissioner promised to work with the heads of media stations towards achieving success in his new assignment.

Mr Omole assured that he would leave no stone unturned at ensuring proper management and dissemination of information of government’s programmes and activities.

He pledged to look into the suggestions of the media bosses and forward recommendations to appropriate quarters where necessary.

The commissioner also urged them not to hesitate to relate with his office, saying that his success in office largely depends on the cooperation of all stakeholders.

Earlier, the General Manager of the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA), Ado Ekiti, Mr. Olusegun Osinowo, who spoke on behalf of his colleagues, congratulated the commissioner on his new appointment, describing it as putting a round peg in a round hole, considering his antecedents.

Mr. Osinowo explained that the visit was in solidarity with the new government’s spokesperson and to express their readiness to partner him in the task ahead.

The general manager invited the commissioner to conduct a familiarization visit to the media stations in order to properly get acquainted with them and their challenges with a view to assisting them to solve such challenges.

In her remarks, the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Information and Values Orientation, Dr. Adekunbi Obaisi expressed gratitude to the general managers for their visit and display of commitment to support the government.

The general managers at the meeting were Mr Dokun Ladele from Radio Nigeria Progress FM, Mr Olu Popoola from the Broadcasting Service of Ekiti State, Mr Adewale Ojo of Ayoba FM, Mr. Donald Falayi, Voice FM; Mr. Jide Ogunluyi, Newcruse FM and Layi Oyawa, Our People’s FM.
