The need for market women to take responsibility in reducing the spread of COVID-19 as well as protecting their children and wards has again been emphasized.

This was re-echoed at a day sensitization program organised by a non-governmental organization, Country Women Association of Nigeria

At the program held at Oja’ba market in Ibadan and attended by the Executives of Ibadan Joint Traders Association and heads of major markets in Ibadan, the market women were advised to prioritize their personal hygiene to stop the spread of Coronavirus.

 A member of Country Women Association of Nigeria, Mrs Deborah  Ayoade urged the market women to always cover their nose while attending to customers.

Iyaloja of Ibadanland, Alhaja Iswat Ameringun urged women to encourage their children to go for vocational training as added advantage to their academic certificate.

President Ibadan Joint Traders Association, Alhaji Daood Oladepo said the association would put more measures in place to ensure strict adherence to COVID-19 protocols in markets in Ibadan.

Chairperson Country Women Association of Nigeria Oyo State, Mrs Olushola Adesina urged mothers to always ensure that young children were not exposed to danger, saying the alarming rate of rape, kidnapping and other forms of crimes in the country called for extra care and urgent action

Mrs Adesina appealed to the market women to make use of what they learnt at the seminar to make the society a better place.
