A twenty-three-year-old man, Dansu Asogba has been arrested by the operatives of Ogun State Police Command for allegedly killing his sixty-year-old aunt, Iyabo Dansu over alleged witchcraft in Ipokia area of the state.

The spokesman of the state command of Nigeria Police Force, Mr Abimbola Oyeyemi said in statement in Abeokuta that the suspect was arrested following the report by the children of the deceased at Ipokia divisional headquarters that their mother, who was not sick, had been reportedly killed.

It explains that the children of the deceased had threatened to carry out a traditional ritual to expose the killer when they noticed that the suspect had the left house since the woman was declared dead.

The statement points out that the suspect came out from his hiding to confess to the crime when he heard of the plan of the children of the deceased to employ the services of traditionalist to unravel the killer.

It says that the suspect claimed that the deceased was responsible for the death of his first child and the subsequent miscarriage suffered by his wife, explaining that the he used an iron rod to hit the woman on the neck which resulted in her death.

Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police, Mr Edward Ajogun has ordered the immediate transfer of the suspect to homicide section of the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department for further investigation and prosecution. 

Mr Ajogun appealed to members of public to always report any of their grievances to law enforcement agencies who would properly investigate such complaint.
