Ogun State Command of the Nigeria Police has arrested a twenty-six year- old teacher of a private school, Mathew Adebayo for allegedly having unlawful carnal knowledge of a fifteen-year-old student of the school.
The suspect was arrested following a report by the proprietress of the school at Sango Police Station that she was informed by one of her SS3 students that the suspect had been raping her repeatedly since the resumption of the school in preparation for the WAEC examination.
A statement in Abeokuta by the state Police Public Relations Officer, Mr Abimbola Oyeyemi says the victim alleged that suspect had told her that she would not pass the WAEC examination if she failed to have sex with him.
It explains that the victim who could not bear the sexual assault, informed her proprietress, who also reported the case at the police station at Sango.
The statement notes that the teacher who was arrested had confessed to committing the crime while the victim had been taken to hospital for medical attention.
Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police, Mr Edward Ajogun has ordered the immediate transfer of the suspect to the Anti-Human Trafficking and Child Labor Unit of the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department for investigation and prosecution.
