Former Super Eagles player, Emmanuel Amuneke has stressed the need for football stakeholders to give maximum support to Nigerian Sports Journalists during this COVID 19 era.

Amuneke made the appeal while donating two hundred thousand naira as COVID 19 palliatives to some Sports Writers based in Nigeria.

The Ex Barcelona of Spain and Taca de Portugal forward commended Nigerian sports Journalists for their high level of professionalism and unbiased reportage of sporting events despite the challenges they encountered during the pandemic.

According to the former African footballer of the year, a group of sports Writers on Sports World platform went extra mile in disseminating current happenings in the world of sports to members of the public despite the effects of COVID 19 on them and on sporting activities.

Amuneke stated that the cash donation was to encourage members of the fourth estate of the realm to do more in the world of sports.

He disclosed that he has been having cordial relationship with the media for 30 years.

Receiving the donation, the convener of Sports World and also a member of Sports Writers Association of Nigeria, SWAN, Oyo state chapter, Sunday Agunbiade commended Emmanuel Amuneke for remembering Sports Writers during this period.

Amuneke had twenty seven caps for Nigeria and scored nine goals for the Super Eagles.

On Managerial career,
Amuneke coached the Nigeria national U17 football team to win the World Cup in 2015, coached the Tanzania national football team and qualified for the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations.

Amuneke, who is now with Misr Lel Makkasa of Egypt, has indicated to coach the Super Eagles if given the opportunity.
