As October 10 governorship election approaches in Ondo State, the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), has charged media professionals to always exhibit high level of professionalism and objectivity in discharging their duties before, during and after the election. 

In a Communique issued at the end of its September edition of the state congress, Ondo NUJ also advised Journalists who will be covering the governorship election to be security conscious. 

In the Communiqué signed by the General Secretary of the Union, Leke Adegbite, Ondo NUJ tasks INEC, Security agencies and other stakeholders to conduct fair, credible and acceptable governorship election in the state as demonstrated recently in Edo State governorship election.

The NUJ congress also expressed full support for the recent decisions of NUJ NEC and NLC NEC in rejecting recent obnoxious hike in fuel price and electricity tariff, insisting that the government’s economic policies have negatively affected purchasing power and livelihood of workers and the masses.

Ondo NUJ also urged security agencies and Amotekun Corps to up their games against criminal activities, particularly kidnapping and destruction of farms in recent time around Akoko/Owo/Akure/Ifedore axis of Ondo State.
