The Bishop, Catholic Doicese of Ekiti, Most Reverend Felix Ajakaiye has appealed to ENDSARS protesters to sheath their sword and suspend their action to enable governments to implement their request for a better Nigeria.

He made the call today during the Thanksgiving service held at Saint Patrick’s Cathedral Ado Ekiti as part of activities marking the 2nd anniversary of Governor kayode Fayemi in office.

He told the congregation that hoodlums had hijacked the peaceful protest to unleash terror on leaders and some innocent Nigerians basically to defeat the purpose which the protest was meant for.

The clergy asked leaders to govern with sincerity of purpose and urgently address security and various socioeconomic challenges confronting the nation..

Bishop Ajakaye challenged Governor Fayemi to consolidate on its achievements in the last two years in the state through the execution of more development projects that would impact positively on the lives of the people. 

He lauded the Governor for his effort in social, and infrastructure development, urging him to put a strong successive mechanism in place that would sustain his legacies.

In a remark, Governor Kayode Fayemi appealed to Nigerians, especially the youth to give Government time to address the various agitations which transcend the reform of the disbanded Special Anti-Robbery Squad, SARS.

Governor Fayemi expressed his commitment and that of other governors to the reform, noting that there were lots of anger and disaffection in the country.

The governor, who thanked the people of the state for their support so far, stressed that government was already re-strategizing on the need  to forge ahead in the remaining last lap of his administration.

The thanksgiving service was attended by the Chairman, Southwest Governors Forum and Governor of Ondo State, Arakunrin Olurotimi Akeredolu, wife of the governor, Erelu Bisi Fayemi, Deputy Governor, Otunba Bisi Egbeyemi, Minister of Trade, Investment and Industry and former Governor of the state, Otunba Niyi Adebayo; Speaker, Ekiti State House of Assembly, Mr  Funminiyi Afuye;, state lawmakers,  former deputy governors, Professor Modupe Adelabu;  Paul Alabi, Surveyor Biodun Aluko state lawmakers, top government functionaries and traditional rulers among others.
