Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has appealed to residents of Lagos State to stay at home and allow the security agents to deal with the breakdown of law and order in the state.

Speaking in a live television interview in Lagos, Governor Sanwo-Olu said the carnage witnessed in the state was unnecessary and would hurt the ordinary people more.

The governor said the people needed to give the government a chance to fix things.

Governor Sanwo-Olu said the cameras removed at the Lekki toll gate before the shooting on Tuesday night were for capturing tags on vehicle number plates and that the CCTV footage of what happened would be presented as evidence to the judicial panel of inquiry set up on Monday.

The governor said he had been in touch with President Muhammadu Buhari and the military authorities for them to clarify why armed soldiers were deployed to the venue of a peaceful protest.
