Ogun State Police command has arrested a member of an armed robbery gang, Alo Monday along shagamu- Ikenne road.
The suspect, indigene of Ebonyi state was arrested by the police officers attached to shagamu division who received a call that armed robbers were operating along the axis.
Spokesman of the state command, Mr Abimbola Oyeyemi said in a statement in Abeokuta that the suspect, Alo Monday was was apprehended with a sledge hammer which he used to hit the owner of the car on the head before snatching the vehicle.
Mr Oyeyemi said the suspect was smuggled out of the place after the youths had allegedly attempted to beat him to comma.
He also pointed out that the owner of snatched car who sustained head injury inflicted on him with the sledge hammer was also taken to the hospital.
Mr Oyeyemi said the Commissioner of Police, Mr Edward Ajogun had ordered the immediate transfer of the case to state criminal investigation and intelligence department for discreet investigation.
