The Deputy Speaker of the Ondo State House of Assembly Mr. Ogundeji Iroju has been impeached.

To this end, Mr. Samuel Aderoboye representing Odigbo Constituency 2 has been elected as a new Deputy Speaker.

The Lawmakers at a parliamentary resolution presented by Mr. Tomide Akinrogunde alleged Mr. Ogundeji of gross misconduct inimical to the progress of the House.

The resolution which was signed by twenty members of the House was in line with the Standing Order of the House and was adopted by the lawmakers at the plenary.

The Speaker, Mr. Bamidele Oleyelogun during the plenary called for nomination and Mr. Aderoboye was elected through a majority voice vote.

Meanwhile, Mr Oluwole Ogunmolasuyi, representing Owo Constituency 1 has been appointed as the new Majority leader, while Mr Festus Akingbaso was picked as the new Minority Leader and Mr Taofeeq Mohammed emerged the new Chief Whip of the House.

In the meantime, a panel to investigate allegation of gross misconduct against the former Deputy Speaker has been inaugurated and will be  headed by Prince Abayomi Akinruntan.

The house in a statement by the Chairman Ad-hoc Committee on Information, Mr. Olugbenga Omole said it was yet to receive a copy of the court judgement on the suspended members.
