The largest market in Ile-Ife, Osun State, Oja Titun was in the early
hours of today gutted by fire destroying goods worth millions of
naira.

Eye witnesses, including Mr. Lasis Adegbola explained that the
incident which broke out at about 1am also destroyed building, shops
and other valuables.

The men of the state fire service later intervened and put out the
fire which the cause is yet to be ascertained.

A trader, Mrs Titilayo Dada, who claimed to have lost all her wares
worth millions of naira to the inferno, broke into tears and was
prevented by sympathizers from jumping into the fire.

Other traders struggling to salvage their stocks from the burnt
buildings, pleaded with the state government to assist all victims.

It would be recalled that the fire outbreak occurred few months after
a similar disaster struck at the major market in the ancient
community.
