Ogun State Police Command has appealed to the hospitals, traditional healers and the public for notifications whenever they sight persons with gunshot injuries in their area.
A statement by the command’s spokesman, Mr. Abímbólá Oyeyemi in Abeokuta, explained that the appeal became necessary following the escape of some armed robbery suspect that engaged the police in a gun duel during an operation.
He hinted that one of the suspects was killed during the gun duel with officers of the command.
Mr Oyeyemi said a distress call was made to the police at Ikenne Divisional Headquarters that a group of armed robbery gang were operating in between a fuel station and a company along the expressway.
The police spokesman said exhibits recovered from the armed robbery scene include a mock gun, a Toyota Corolla car with registration number KNN 84 TD believed to have been snatched.
Mr Oyeyemi disclosed that the commissioner of police reassured the people of Ogun State that the command was more determined to ensure safety of all residents during and after the Yuletide.
