Youths of Igangan in Ibarapa area of Oyo State have staged a peaceful protest to the office of the state governor, Engineer Seyi Makinde to end Fulani herdsmen brutalization on their lands and in the state as a whole.

This is a sequel to the killing of Dr Fatai Aborode by suspected herdsmen in Igangan, Ibarapa North during the weekend.

The youths during the protest called for the implementation of the state’s Anti-Grazing bill, closure of Kara cattle market in Igangan, and immediate deployment of Amotekun Corps into the thick forest of Igangan in Ibarapa.

The convener of the protest, Mr. Oladokun Oladiran explained that late Faborode left his family abroad to venture into mechanized farming in Ibarapaland but met his untimely death by suspected herdsmen in Igangan while returning from his farm.

Mr Oladiran said the residents of area who are mostly farmers could no longer go to their farms because of the fear of the herdsmen, and pleaded with government to find a lasting solution to the menace.

Addressing the protesters, Oyo State Deputy Governor, Engineer Rauf Olaniyan assured the Igangan youths that the state government would take a proactive measures on their demands.

Engineer Olaniyan appealed to the youths not to embark on jungle justice and shun fake news that Fulanis were murderers.
