An early morning petroleum tanker explosion has killed three persons leaving many others injured.
The explosion also left five vehicles and two motorcyclea burnt.
Correspondent Wale Oluokun who was at the scene reports that sympathisers around the IBB Boulevard worked very hard to secure a second generation bank located around the area from been caught by fire.
According to witnesses including the immediate past Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Journalists Ogun state council Comrade Wole Sokunbi whose vehicle was infront of the exploded tanker, the accident was caused by the break failure of the petroleum tanker descending from the Kuto over head bridge.
According to the witnesses, the petroleum tanker caught fire immediately it fell on three vehicles on the incoming lane which made the people around the area to run in various directions for safety.
Two Fire service vehicles from the federal and state fire services responded to the explosion fire from the bank end and the Kuto end of the road.
The Ogun state commissioner for special duties, Mr. Femi Ogunbamwo who was at the accident scene while the rescue operations was ongoing said the government has commenced work to assist the victims as they are being treated on government expenses.
He also noted that the government would be awaiting the report of appropriate agencies on the causes of the accident to prevent occurrence in the future.
Security men were also on hand to control thousands of people that trooped to the accident scene to see the carmage.
