Oyo State Governor, Engineer Seyi Makinde has approved the construction of the second phase of Akesan Market in Oyo town following the completion of the first phase of the market, which was razed by fire in 2020.

He gave the approval during an assessment tour of the projects comprising 520 lock up shops, 168 open stalls, administrative block, warehouses and other ultra modern facilities

Governor Makinde expressed satisfaction on the quality of work done and commended the local contractor for executing the project accordingly 

He also noted that the second phase would be completed on scheduled and duly commissioned for use this year to enhance commercial activities in the town

The Oyo helmsman had earlier made an on-the-spot assessment tour to the 5.2km Gedu Oroki Sabo Asipa road rehabilitation project, where he stressed that the era of neglect of public project was gone. 

Earlier, the contractor handling the project hinted that the project was still in its early stage of work as only 7% of the project had been executed.
