Ogun State Police Command has arrested a 36 year old man, Humble Michael for allegedly having unlawful carnal knowledge of a 4 year old pupil of the school where he works.
The suspect was arrested after the mother of the victim reported the case at Ogijo divisional headquarters that her daughter had been sexually abused.
The mother of the victim told the policemen that her daughter explained that the suspect who is the driver of the school bus had had sex with her on their way from the school.
She alleged that the suspect perpetrated the unlawful act after he had dropped off other school children at their various homes.
The Police Public Relations Officer, Mr Abimbola Oyeyemi said in Abeokuta that the victim was taken to general hospital for treatment and the doctor’s report confirmed that she had been sexually abused.
Mr Oyeyemi said the suspect had confessed to committing the crime.
Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police, Mr Edward Ajogun has ordered the immediate transfer of the case to the Anti Human Trafficking and Child Labour Unit of the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department for further investigation and prosecution.
Mr Ajogun appealed to parents to always make the wellbeing of their children, especially the female ones a priority to save them from evil doers.
He also reminded school proprietors on the need to always have background checks of their employees to save them from employing criminals.
