The remains of the Akirun of Ikirun, Oba Rauf Adedeji has been interred in the ancient palace in Ikirun.

Chief Imam of the town, Alhaji Yunus Adebayo Balogun led a short Muslim prayer for the repose of the soul of the monarch before it was moved into inner chambers of the palace where the final rites and committal were conducted by selected people.

The remains of late Oba Adedeji arrived the Akirun palace at about half past four in a COVID-19 special ambulance, accompanied by medical workers dressed in their Personal Protective Equipment, PPE.

They medical personnel ensured that no one moved closer to the corpse.

Despite the warning on adherence to COVID-19 protocols, thousands of residents of the community besieged the palace to catch a glimpse of the late monarch and pay him their last respect.

Oba Rauf Adedeji reportedly joined his ancestors on Thursday at the State Hospital Asubiaro as a result of COVID-19 related complications.
