Nigeria Police, Osun State Command says it has secured the release of the two Chinese nationals kidnapped in the gold mining village of Okepa/Itikan in Ifewara, Atakumosa West Local Government area of the state.

The Police Public Relations Officer of the Osun State Command, Mrs Yemisi Opalola gave the information in a statement in Osogbo, the state capital.

Mrs Opalola said the two Chinese, Messrs Zhao Jian, 33 and Wem, 55 were released unhurt at about nine o’clock in the evening of Wednesday,7th April.

She said the police and the combined security team were still on the trail of the kidnappers to bring them to justice.

The two Chinese, who were parts of the foreigners mining gold in Osun State, were reportedly kidnapped on Tuesday 5th April at about 4 o’clock in the evening while their two security guards were shot.

The police spokesperson had reported that the kidnappers demanded a ransom of ten million naira, but there is no evidence the money was paid before were released.
