About fourteen people have been empowered in Bodija, Ibadan.

The graduands who were selected from out-of-school children and child labour were trained in fashion designing.

In an interview, the chairman, Ayodele and Olutoyin Global Empowerment Foundation, Mr Olaniyi Ayodele, said as the former Oyo State chairperson of the Steering Committee on Child Labour and a former Director, Federal Ministry of Labour, he was passionate with issues that relate to child labour.

He noted that if these children who were used as labourers, denied access to education and learning a skill were neglected, they would turn out to be miscreants who would disturb the peace of the land.

Mr Ayodeke said some of the graduands had to be counselled before they could accept to be trained.

The representative of the Oyo State Commissioner of Women Affairs, Alhaji  Adebayo Salawu said taking children  off the streets should not be a sole responsibility of the government.

Alhaji Salawu therefore commended the efforts of the Ayodele and Oluwatoyin Global Foundation.

Present at the empowerment were Deputy Director, Federal Ministry of Labour, Chairman, Child Labour Monitoring, Mr Aminu Isa.
